Sedation Dentistry, "Comfort Dentistry" Niagara Falls, ON

Comfort, Relaxation and Control

Don't let the fear of going to the dentist stand in the way of achieving the smile of your dreams and obtaining optimum oral health.  Many of our patients who had avoided going to the dentist for years and sometimes even decades have found sedation dentistry a relaxing and comfortable way to address all of their dental needs.  Dr. Olivieri and his compassionate team work hard to build relationships built on trust and genuine caring.  It is astounding that many of our patients no longer feel they need sedation after a visit or two to our office and getting to know us.

At Niagara Falls Dental Clinic we offer two forms of sedation:

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is used in dentistry for its extremely safe pain reducing and calming effects. It is known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it.  The administration of nitrous oxide is used to enhance patient comfort and relieve anxiety for patients of all ages.  The gas (a nitrous oxide and oxygen mixture) is inhaled through a small and comfortable nasal hood.  The amount of gas that you receive is monitored and controlled by Dr. Olivieri to maximize your comfort and relaxation.  You will begin to relax in just a few minutes, so the dentist can perform your dental work while you stay completely comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide fade very quickly once the gas is stopped so you will be able to resume your normal activities immediately upon leaving the office and no escort is required.  We have found nitrous oxide sedation a fantastic tool to calm nervous children and for adults with mild anxiety or "needle phobia."

Oral Sedation

For adults with greater anxiety or who require large amounts of work oral sedation is very effective.  A simple pill is taken an hour before your scheduled dental treatment in the comfort of our office.  Extremely nervous patients can even take a pill at bedtime the night before treatment to ensure a restful sleep.  Like nitrous oxide, oral sedation is very safe however the effects are stronger and longer lasting so you will need an escort to accompany you home.

If you have been avoiding the dentist, call us today and get the treatment you need in comfort.
